My Passat's interior smells like a wet dog and I can't fix it

It all started a few months ago when I had to transport my brother’s dog – a big Labrador who was apparently wetter than I realised – and despite my best efforts to dry everything off afterwards, there’s this lingering damp dog smell that just will not go away no matter what I do. I’ve tried every carpet cleaner, fabric freshener, and odour eliminator I could find at the supermarket, I’ve left bowls of baking soda and coffee grounds in the car overnight, I’ve even rented one of those ozone machines from a friend, but nothing seems to make a lasting difference and the smell comes back within a day or two. The worst part is that it’s starting to affect my enjoyment of the car – I used to love driving it, but now I dread getting in because I know I’m going to be hit with that smell as soon as I open the door. I’m starting to think I need to hand it over to professionals who have the right equipment and products to deal with this sort of thing properly, because clearly my DIY efforts just aren’t cutting it.
