Has anyone had a full transmission rebuild done on their Audi? Need some reassurance
Citát ze zdroje Host dne 29. 8. 2026, 9:15So I’ve finally accepted the reality that my 2014 Q5’s transmission needs a full rebuild and honestly I’ve been dreading this moment ever since I bought the car three years ago. The symptoms started about six months ago with some occasional rough shifting, then progressed to a noticeable shudder under acceleration, and now it’s at the point where the car actually jerks violently when downshifting from 3rd to 2nd, which I know is a classic sign that the clutch packs and valve body are worn out. I’ve had three different garages look at it and they’ve all given me the same verdict, it needs a complete overhaul including new clutch packs, seals, and a rebuilt valve body, which is going to set me back somewhere in the region of 12,000 to 15,000 AED depending on what they find when they open it up. I’ve been going back and forth about whether it’s worth spending that much on a car that’s probably only worth about 30,000, but I genuinely love this car and it’s been otherwise perfectly reliable, plus the thought of buying something used with unknown history just doesn’t appeal to me. I’ve been researching where to get it done and I’ve seen a few places that offer Leading Audi transmission overhaul service in Musaffah Industrial, which seems to be the area where a lot of the proper specialists are located. I’m just looking for some reassurance from people who’ve been through this, did you have a full rebuild done and how did it turn out? Was the car the same afterwards or did it never quite feel right? I’m really nervous about spending all that money and then having issues again down the line, so I want to make sure I’m making the right decision and taking it to the right place. Any advice or shared experiences would be really helpful right now because I’m genuinely stressed about this.
